Let me elaborate.
Holistic health is a measurement of our current state of health that takes into account the whole person in body, mind and spirit.
Holistic health or holistic healing is often defined as a form of healing that looks at the whole person: body, mind and spirit. This type of holistic healing often involves multiple complementary medications and alternative health practices that can overlap with modern Western medicine, but go beyond the individual treatment of symptoms to support more than just the body.
Most of us strive to be healthy, but the definition of good health can vary from culture to person.
It’s all too common to underestimate the impact that happiness and well-being can have on your physical health. Taking a holistic approach means defining health as more than just being free from physical or mental illness.
Holistic health is about feeling calm and relaxed; having a sense of purpose and maintaining an optimistic attitude. Research shows that those who have good general well-being are less likely to suffer from long-term ailments and recover more quickly from illness or disease.
While dealing with overwhelming responsibilities and pressures on a daily basis, most people don’t even realize when they’re feeling stressed or unbalanced.
Practicing a holistic approach means taking regular steps to protect your health and well-being to ensure lasting benefits in all areas of your life. A good diet, exercise and sleep routine, as well as resilience and determination are all factors that contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
Most of us understand the basics of a healthy and balanced diet; eat lots of fruit and veg, try to limit sugar and salt, drink less alcohol, etc. Easier said than done when you’re faced with the temptation to grab a meal and a beer after a long work week . But while fast food is good for a short-term fix, it’s likely to make you feel a lot worse in the long run. Loaded with sugar, salt, and fat that trigger the release of calming chemicals in the brain, the next day you may be more tired and irritable than before.
Exercise is an essential part of staying fit and healthy, but when you’re busy it might not feel like going to the gym. However, contrary to the reasonable excuse (I’m too tired), exercise actually increases energy levels and improves mood and overall well-being. Depending on your level of fitness and physical ability, at least 30 minutes of cardio (something that gets your heart beating faster) three times a week is essential to keep you fit on a daily basis. By releasing mood-enhancing chemicals in the brain, exercise is an important part of protecting your mental health and keeping you physically healthy and strong.
Often not seen as part of a healthy lifestyle, but having a sense of purpose is an essential part of holistic health. It’s becoming increasingly common for people to appear to be living the “good life” while feeling depressed, anxious, or lost.
Social media allows for quick and easy communication with others, but perpetuates low self-esteem by encouraging peer-to-peer judgement. It is vital to overall health and well-being not to live on the approval of others. We are all unique, and an individual purpose gives meaning to our lives and helps us feel happy and fulfilled.
Finding purpose can mean trying new things, whether it’s a new hobby, going to a new place, or meeting new people. If you’re unhappy with the life you currently lead, finding meaning may mean changing your career or lifestyle. It’s important to look beneath the surface and explore new ideas or ways of life.
Mental and physical health are almost inextricably linked because of their mechanisms and outcomes. Living a traditionally “healthy” life is insufficient without proper consideration of your overall happiness and well-being. Diet, exercise, and sleep are all essential to keeping you looking and feeling your best, but without resilience and determination, you may not be reaping the full benefits. Working towards a happy and fulfilling life is a journey we all take. It’s not as easy as it looks, but don’t be afraid to ask for help. https://go.oncehub.com/JEANETTACARDINE
